Hi All,
I am late tonight, but thought I had better let you all know that we are alright. We live on a small hill, and didn't have much flooding in our town, Iowa Park, but there has been and still is flooding along the Wichita River from Lake Kickapoo west of us about 40 miles away through the country to Wichita Falls and east to Lake Arrowhead . Kickapoo is going over the spillway, and Arrowhead is over 90 % full. We just had about 1/4 inch last night and today, instead of the 2 to 4 inches expected in our part of Texas. The heavy rain went south of us to Austin and Houston where they had a lot of rain and flooding. Houston is about 420 miles from us. Altogether we have had 18 inches of rain in our backyard gage. Rain is called for every day this coming week. Our county has broken all records for one month's rainfall, and we still have 6 days left. As long as we don't have much rain, they expect the floodwater to go down, and then people can go back home, after the electric company checks out the electricity to be sure it is safe. About 350 homes in Wichita Falls, and another 35 along the river between Iowa Park and Wichita were evacuated. My lilies and daylilies are blooming, and are really pretty. It is so wet and muddy we can't get it weeded, or the lawn mowed, so the grass and weeds are really growing. It rained so hard and so fast that a lot of our mulch washed down and is piled along the fence. Right now it is too wet to try to rake it back into place.
I am ready for some sunshine, even though it means the temps will go into the 90"s and with the humidity, it will be miserable.
Shelly, I have taken the I Caps for years, and couldn't see that it helped, so I quit. Recently I have started them again, but so far, I can't tell any difference. When I get overly tired, or have low blood sugar, the vision is the first symptom . I just have to stop what I am doing and try to relax and rest. I am so far behind on my genealogy research that I may never get caught up. I need to do some sewing also. I have a quilt about 1/2 quilted, and I really would like to get back to it, but since it is hand quilted, I don't think I can even get the needle threaded.
It is 1:20 my time, so I had better get to bed. Goodnight all,
Ann
