Happy New Year to all.
We spent a very quiet New Year's Eve. Actually, we have spent a quiet week after Christmas. Our kids, or 4 of the five, came for our Christmas celebration on Saturday, the 26th. The day started out very nice and before the day was over, it turned cold and rainy. They all left before 9pm, and got home safely. They missed all the bad storms in the Dallas area. Two of them live in Arlington, and they were south of the bad storms. One lives in Burleson just off of 35. The other lives in Nocona, about 60 miles east of us. Beginning late Saturday night we had rain, sleet, freezing rain and snow all through Sunday into early Monday. We got 4 1/2 inches of rain and an accumulation of about 3-4 inches of snow. It is almost all melted now. Spring can come any day now.
It is supposed to get up into the 50's over the weekend, so I hope we can get the yard, garden and flower beds cleaned. First, we have to pick up pecans. We thought we had most of them picked up, but the high winds that came before the bad weather shook a bunch more down. It also got a few limbs also that we have to clean up, and I need to plant all those daylilies I dug up. I also bought some daffodils and dutch irises to plant. We have already picked up about 200 pounds of pecans. We will take them to be cracked in a week or two. The daughter who lives in Nocona wants some, and we might sell some of them to the place that cracks them for us. Bob will shell them, and I will freeze them in gallon glass jars. They will keep for at least 3 years.
It is almost 1 am, so I had better shut down and get to bed.
Good night, and I hope all have a wonderful new year
Ann.
