Hi to everyone.

It has been a while since I checked in. Our weather has finally turned to fall. The air conditioner has been off for a couple of weeks, and we have had the doors open. We are still finding yard work to keep us busy.

Susan and Max, I am glad you escaped without damage from Matthew. I think I will take a tornado anytime over a hurricane and flooding.

I don't know how many of you remember the tale of my older daughter's problems with her kitchen remodel and the mess the contractor made. She still hasn't gotten any money back, and they suspect that one of the crooked contractor's workers stole the daughter-in-laws car last month. Last Friday, the new contractor's worker was putting the finishing touches on the cabinets. He was spraying lacquer to touch them up, and there was an explosion, and the house burned. It looks like it is a total loss. Thankfully, no one was hurt, as they were all out at the time. Both dogs and the cat were ok, but the goldfish and turtle didn't make it. Right now , it looks like everything was lost. It all depends on the insurance adjuster as to what she gets. She hadn't gotten in touch with them because of the weekend, and also the adjustors were dealing with Matthew. Since today was a holiday, she apparently didn't get to talk to them today either. A friend who has a guest house is letting her and the family, including the dogs and cat stay there for as long as it takes. We are hoping that it will be deemed unrepairable, and that instead of rebuilding that she will cut her losses and start anew in a new home. So far, she seems to be taking it all in stride and is doing ok for now.

We are taking it all one day at a time.
