    Hello to all,

I lost track of time again, so thought I should check in. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. There were 26 here, and we ate all day. I have been trying to get the Christmas decorations up. I am just about through with all but the tree trimming. I will get to that tomorrow.

It has finally turned cold. I picked a couple of roses a few days ago. It has been so warm that the dumb spring bulbs have come up. The leaves are still on the pecan trees, but will probably fall next weekend, as the night-time temps are supposed to get down to 20 degrees on Thursday and Friday night. We had exactly 1 pecan this year. The squirrels and doves striped the trees clean before they got ripe and fell. Luckily I have several packages in the freezer, so I can do a lot of cooking. The kids are coming for Christmas on Christmas eve morning. We will have brunch and open gifts, and then they will all leave so they can get home before it gets too late.

Carol, our daughter, sold her burned down house and lot for $40,000. She found another house to buy, and will close on it on Feb 20, 2017. The house went on sale on Thursday, and she looked at it on Friday at noon. They already had 8 offers, but chose her offer, even though it was the lowest. She told them about her house burning, and told them that they could stay until their new house was ready. She has free rent on the house she is in now until Feb 20, and then can rent on a monthly basis for up to 2 years. It is a really nice house in Crowley, Texas, just south of Ft. Worth. She works in downtown Ft. Worth at city hall, so it will be closer, and she doesn't have to put up with traffic on I 35, or I 20 to get to work. She is also just 10 minutes from her sister who lives in Burleson. She doesn't know how much she will get on her contents, but the insurance and selling the lot will pay for the new house with a little to spare. It made her Thanksgiving a lot better just knowing that all was settled. There wasn't much to salvage out of the old house.

Susan, I am glad that you are enjoying your house and all the renovations. All we lack on ours is the painting, but it has been too cold and damp to get it done, even if we had the time.
