Merry Christmas to all. I hope you all have had a very wonderful Christmas.
We had a very nice Christmas yesterday when 4 of our children and their families came for the day. Our only great-granddaughter had a very good day. She and her parents lived with her grandmother, Carol and she had a very bad year, with the loss of her grandfather, and then the loss of her home in the fire. She lost all of her stuffed animals, toys, and books to the fire. She is five, and every Christmas for the last 5 years, I gave her a white Christmas teddy bear from Walmart with the year on the foot. It has been a tradition for me to give the grandkids one for Christmas for the first 5 years, there have been 5 grandkids and one great-grand since I started, (Cindy, my youngest daughter told me that 15 was enough...after she had 3 who each got one for 5 years). Any way, I decided to break tradition when I gave Madalyne one this year, since she lost all of them in the fire. I don't think I have ever seen a kid so happy in my life as she was when she got it. She hugged it the whole time that every one opened gifts. She only put it down when she opened her last gift which was in a big red plastic bag...a bicycle.. I think it is wonderful when you have small kids to enjoy Christmas with.
It was a beautiful sunny day yeaterday..78 degrees.. a record was broken. Just a week before it was bitterly cold. We broke a low record with temps in the teens. I think I told all of you about my experiment with a windowsill garden in my enclosed patio. The cold last weekend got my basil plants and my tomatoes. The tomatoes were loaded with blooms. I will try again with the tomatoes a little later...maybe get a headstart on next spring.
Again MERRY CHRISTMAS to all!
