Hi All,
Now that spring has sprung, and we are having wild weather. Yesterday was especially bad west of here. We got about 1/2 inch of rain, but no damage in the area. It then went east and north of us, and our daughter in Burlison had wind damage to her roof and her fence blown down. The other 2 kids who live in that area didn't have any problems. We have a new weatherman on one of the stations, and he sorta went overboard with his maps and such. We were late for a meeting because we watched the weather to see if we were going to have any eminent bad weather, and he was so focused on 75 miles west of us that he never got around to us. He stood right in front of the map, and obscured our area, so we couldn't even see for ourselves if it was going to be bad. I know that we need to know where the bad weather is, but people need to stay calm and pay attention to what is going on around them. There was a very bad accident in west Texas between 2 cars of storm watchers who weren't paying attention. One of them ran a stop sign and hit the other . 3 storm chasers were killed.
We have been trying to get our garden planted. The flowers are blooming. I even have buds on my roses. The amaryllis are sending up buds. They shouldn't be blooming until late May or June. Susan, I was going to send you some Amaryllis if you wanted them, but since they are already sending up buds, I will need to wait until fall. I sent a box to Bob's sister in Missouri. I packed them in a small foam ice chest and put an ice pack in with them. It cost $17.00 for 10 bulbs--5 very large ones and 5 medium sized ones. The ice pack weighed 1 and 1/2 pounds. We mailed them priority mail and she got them in 5 days. They arrived just fine. If I send some in late fall, I don't think I will need the ice pack. At one of the lumber stores, they had some potted up and were selling them for $9.97 each, so 10 for $17 isn't very bad.
Irene, sorry, but I don't know anything about dolls. Hello also to Shelly and Gordon.
It was 7 years ago today that I had my heart surgery. It doesn't seem possible that it has been that long ago. I am feeling very well, and so far have gotten good reports from most of my doctors. I will see the cardiologist in a couple of weeks, and then I will be done with my annual check-ups.
Good night to all,
Ann
