Hi from chilly Texas
It was too chilly to work outside today. But that is OK. We had planned to clean house today, but our daughter, Susan and her husband and dog came to see us, and while she was here, my younger sister and her husband and grandson came to visit also. We had a very nice visit.
We worked in the yard and garden this week, and we had a nice rain, so now we have a new crop of weeds to get after. My amaryllis have been blooming and some iris. They are all early this year. I also have lilies blooming, and my clematis are blooming. I also have roses blooming. It is really enjoyable being outside and working in the garden. That will end before long, as the weather report for late this week is for the 90's. When it gets to above 95 for a few days, it will bee too hot to do much outside.
Susan, we are having the house painted a dark country blue. The main part of the house is white brick, and it looks good. Actually, we have had it painted blue for about 30 years. Our next-door neighbor is painting the house for us. Bob had mentioned to him that we were trying to find someone to paint all the high parts, and he volunteered to do it. He is really doing a good job. He had thought he would finish it yesterday, but it rained Thursday night, so he didn't get it done, and today was so cold with a 20-30 mph wind blowing, so he couldn't finish up today. It is really nice to have such good neighbors. We are paying him, and for him it came at a good time, as their car quit on them and he spent over a week getting it running again, so I am sure the extra money will come in handy for them. He does all our lawn mowing, and keeps it looking good.
Well, it is getting late, and I still have some steaks to get cut into meal-sized packages and into the freezer. Our store ran a special on top sirloin steaks for $2.99 per lb. It was too good to pass up, so we bought 10 lbs.
Goodnight all, Ann
