Katie, Your plates may be from Bavaria. The Carl A Schumann factory in Arzberg, Germany may have made it. They produced a lot of blanks for people to paint themselves. They did make a lot that was unmarked for sale in Germany itself. I was told that at times they didn't mark their wares, depending on who was ruling Barvaria at any particulsr time. Personally, the quality looks more like Bavaria, instead of Japan. Ann
