Hello to all you Potties. Been posting ont he other board. Yes Susan, I'm in Maryland. Assateague Island is not 5 miles away. Katie, the northern part of the island is a national seashore and the wild horses are just that. Wild horses, no intervention. The southern herd is owned by the chincoteague Volunteer Fire Dept, who each year run an auction of the new foals, and that becomes their operating funds. I don't know if they feed them or round them up during a storm. On Assateague in a storm in the early 90s there were many horses that drowned. They are trying to reduce the herd by birth control and attrition. You can "adopt" a wild horse or bid to name a new foal during Christmas time. Check assateagueislandalliance.com
Wow the winds have picked up considerably in the past few minutes. Norfolk is only about 100 miles from us.
