Hi Max. Not really shut up. We of course leave the furnace set at about 62 and don't shut the water off or winterize it. We have to be going up to rake leaves although we do have the perennials all cut back. Up to our hineys in leaves here too. Be glad when the snow flies and yard work is done.

Hi Max. Just saw your question. Yes get up there quite a bit. Of course we have to go up and mow and Bill and SIL put in a little dock to make it easier to get on the Waverunner. Easier for them, I only went on it once and darn near had a stroke.
I went up last week as some of the trim on the house needed a fresh coat of paint. Wondering when that thing called leisure kicks in? -

Good morning. Am looking at this auction on eBay and wondering what on earth is wrong with this "gorgeous?" piece of Roseville Florentine. It's the saddest looking piece of Roseville I've ever seen. It looks like it spent it's whole life outside in the weather and acid rain. Good morning. Shelly no Fran wasn't ill but she did have knee replacements, lost a huge amount of weight and is just fine. Hi Max. Went up to the lake Fri and Sat to mow and clean windows. Yeah, yard work getting caught up but it's getting much harder for us old crocks to take care of two houses an hour and forty five minutes apart. LOL. Of course the kids think that since we're retired we have all the time in the world.
Toad posts all the time on FB about all his finds. I think his house must look like Treasure Hoarders.

Shelly by the guys behavior I'm thinking that perhaps they had trouble with him before and was being followed by an inspector. Shelly a few weeks back a P.O. truck pulled out of a driveway and hit DH's car. Did 2,000 worth of damage. The mail guy got out ranting, raving and going "postal!" The police came and told the mail guy off saying they were supposed to obey the rules of the road like any driver. Talk about fantastic luck, behind the mail truck was a car with a flashing light containing a POSTAL INSPECTOR who sided with DH. LOL so there is a damage claim to come out of the P.O. budget.

Excellent point Shelly however I can get along nicely without Beyonce's singing, Oprah and her racist views, sport's stars and the likes of Michael Moore preaching, multi millionaires all. I cannot however get along without the products of companies that produce oil, food, materials to build houses, and so on and so forth. I can also get along without the likes of Gore and Michael Moore ranting about Global warming while raking in millions, and telling us about our evil "carbon footprint." BTW poor Al, it's so cold at his mansion in TN that he had to purchase another house in a more temperate climate. http://www.globalwarminghoax.com/news.php?extend.135
On the other hand if there is global warming I am most grateful because it's only going down to 17 below zero F here instead of the 20 below predicted. -

Gordon I have hanging baskets on my porch with lantana however our variety are a bit different looking with small multiple flowers on a head. However reading see it's a bit poisonous too. Who knew. I can see where it would be a big problem in climates that don't get the huge winter die back. Having said that the things that I battle taking over my yard are mint, lemon balm and such. Not noxious, smell nice but do take over.

Reen you are so right. The world is turning into a pig sty. Some of the cities we have walked are unreal. Cairo and Athens looked like there was a garbage collectors strike. Rome, yeah kinda bad also London. At least Athens and London had some clean areas. Prolly where the tourists go so they try to keep it clean. The tourist spots in Rome also fairly clean but OMG why do young people think they need to put graffiti on everything?
Will say Sydney was rather clean Gordon. Keflavik, Iceland was pristine clean.
In the US we saw glas IV bottles and plastic bags laying on the beach. Didn't think those were even used anymore. Red Rocks outdoor theater in Colorado had hypodermic needles laying all over. Prolly from a rock concert. It us sad how many brainless half wits there are mucking up the planet. -

We don't take Teddy to the doggie park anymore. Afrais he'll pick something up and the fact that he found out that if he hung out at the picnic tables where the humans sit that he gets petted, stroked, fawned over and told he's beautiful.

Susan I once adopted a tiny kitten. Named her Phoebe and took her in to the vet. Doctor informed me that Phoebe was indeed a boy. Changed his name to Riley.
Yesterday was shot and check up day for calico Daphne. We adopted her from the animal hospital. The doctor who we adopted her from actually saved her life. She was brought in as a tiny almost newborn only five inches long and infested with fleas. The doctor said she was sure she was a lost cause and almost left her to die but she said she "just had to try!" A miracle happened and after days on fluids and a blood transfusion the little baby lived. This is Daphne. I did post this picture last Sunday. http://i42.tinypic.com/23p25t.jpg -

LOL Gordon anyone who says they remember everything they ever heard or learned is either a fool or a bloody liar.
As I told you once I'm surely not an expert on the Great Lakes and only know bits because I grew up from 8 years old on hanging out on the south shore of Lake Erie, hung out on Put In Bay and Kelleys Island. In those days I could tell you where every bar was out on Put In Bay.
God help you if you missed the last ferry back to Port Clinton. Those were the days. -

Gordon that would be the St Lawrence Seaway.
The Saint Lawrence Seaway, is the common name for a system of locks, canals and channels that permits ocean-going vessels to travel from the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes, as far inland as the western end of Lake Superior. Wikipedia
Thought of you today while out in the car and heard the song about the Edmund Fitzgerald. You should Google that and read about it. Fascinating story. -

Gayle we feed ours both. Always a bowl of Kibbles but then some canned food too. All our cats over time would not eat the shredded but only the pate. This current crew only likes the shredded.

Bob is that right? I will have to watch for those. Remind me in September will ya?
Gordon we took our Australian cousins up the monument and they were duly impressed. Not quite on a par with the view from Sydney tower but quite beautiful. You can see all the little islands from up there. -

BTW Gordon that monument on Put In Bay is to commemorate the battle of Lake Erie when Oliver Hazard Perry routed the British during the Battle of Lake Erie during the war of 1812.
Also told you wrong. Put in Bay is on South Bass Island not Kelley's Island. Good thing I don't drive the ferry over there. -

Gordon Lake Erie shore is really wonderful. Here are pictures of the favorite hangout of the youth of my day. It's Gem Beach on Catawba Island.
There was a huge dance hall there with a wooden floor. How that floor used to shake when we were dancing doing the Stomp and the Mashed Potato. We thought we were really sophisticated with our slight buzzes from 3.2 beer. -

And Posting these pictures of Put In Bay on Kelley's Island where I spent a lot of my time. I post these for you Gordon because I know you have an interest in the Great Lakes. Erie is the only one I've spent time at.

Gordon having spent my youth from age 8 until leaving home at 22 on the south shore of lake Erie I can tell you that yes you can get some pretty heavy surf. Lake Erie can be treacherous and dangerous as can the other Great Lakes. Many ships have gone down in swells and the Marblehead Lighthouse has been a saviour from some of the rocky coast.

And that dear friend is why, if I were going out in the bush I would take a picnic hamper with sammiches and some cookies and biscuits.
Also pack a billycan and some Typhoo find a nice clean billabong. -

Well yeah but there's a difference between an insect and a damn big greasy looking grub between some guys teeth.
Just sayin' and if I wasn't so damn nosy I wouldn't have clicked on it. -

Gordon you sure do have an obsession with Australian gross things. The grub thing between the guys teeth is nasty.
Berating myself for clicking on it. -

So sorry Gayle. There seemed to be some hope there for a bit. You did the right thing staying with her. We always held our animals and talked to them when the vet did the final act. Heartbreaking but they deserved to have their momma and daddy with them. They say time heals and I guess it does but still you will think of her always as we do the many many we've had over the years.

Katie I'm thinking they came up with those back in the day before nice big coffee mugs became popular. I don't remember the time when I had a cup of coffee or tea in a dainty cup and saucer. I like a mug with a nice big handle for my morning coffee.

LOL Bob of course. I wasn't thinking.
Katie as a rule large cups like that are called breakfast cups. They usually hold two regular size cups of coffee or tea and were often included in a tea service. -

Good morning. Lord I didn't mean to use such awful grammar as "them cats!"
I meant to say the shots don't seem to bother cats, or dogs for that matter, very much. -

Gayle amazing.
I think listen to your vet. She was ill and has come back. She may be fine for several years yet. My DD had a cat that lived until 19. I know humans can have bad diabetic spells, get insulin and recover and be fine.
I do know that it seems the shots don't bother them cats a bit. When mine go in for their shots they don't even flinch.
