Gordon, we LOVED The West Wing. Quick, lots of interesting characters and stories.
The Handmaid's Take is too close to what some would want our life to be like here in the US. I did not enjoy watching it.
Forgot to add that I thin the cheese with a bit of almond milk for the spinach. Even the dog liked it!

Hi everyone. Gordon, Mike had the laser treatment for his implant lenses and it cleared them up instantly!
A friend brought chicken soup. So we will have that tonight with steamed baby spinach. I cook it then melt a dab of low-fat cream cheese and plant butter and stir it in and voila! Creamy spinach.

We give him pumpkin or sweet potato, a dab of broccoli, and we heat chicken broth and mix in with plain yogurt. Always trying to make it nice. He gets glucosamine, pain meds for arthritis, and "brain" amino acids as he is showing a little dementia. He still jumps up and down to go out, straight up in the air. This was last night.

Max I so enjoyed Gordon's stories about his mother!
Well the cold weather is here! I painted my front door yesterday but it will need another coat. But MUCH better looking!

Hi Potties - Nice to see signs of life again.
Katie - You're waaaaay more tech savie than I am - I just spent hours on the phone with my printer gurus to find out why it wasn't printing. I ended up taking the printer back to my local Staples where they figured out they had sold me the wrong size ink cartridge. Once that was straightened out all was well. The bad thing for me is not having a paper manual for me to use with trouble-shooting. I've apparently outlived my usefulness. I think my next repair will be a new keyboard since the current one is having issues.
Gordon - I consider that it's already gotten chilly - it's been down in the 40's & 50's quite a few nights lately. It has warmed up nicely during the days so I can still get out in the yard in the afternoons but may not be the case much longer.
I finally got Kermit's emission test today so I'll go by the tag office on Mon. & see if I can get that taken care of. On my way to the testing place I think I saw the new Santa Cruz that I'm thinking about getting. It's a little bigger than my Baja was but it's pretty. The one I saw today was an ugly color - sort of olive drab - but the style was nice.
The only thing exciting here lately was in the wee hours of Thurs. AM while I was watching TV, Irish decided to see if he could burn the house down. I heard a racket across the room & when I stood up & looked, there was Irish watching an electric wall outlet sparking & smoking. Apparently my #1 cat had sprayed the outlet, which reacted immediately & left the curtain smoking with a hole burned right in front of the outlet. A million years ago I worked for an Air Force Fire Dept. so I have great respect for fire in any form & promptly called 911 & asked them if they could send somebody to make sure there was no danger of the house burning down. The nice men came, checked everything out & recommended I have an electrician replace the outlet. I tried to contact an electrician we know but had no luck reaching him so guess I'll start looking elsewhere - got a couple of other small things that need done so will tend to everything at once. Scared the bejesus out of me - 1st time in all the years I've had cats one has done that. If Zac had been able to bring the curio from the old house, it wouldn't have happened 'cause the curio is slated to sit in front of that outlet. Oh, well. The house didn't burn down, my curtain has a hole in it & I'll have a bill from an electrician. Things turned out as well as could be expected, all considered.
Had reason to love our generator last week. When I woke up to watch football on Sat. I heard the generator running. Gave Zac a call to see why the power was out. Seems that during the night a storm blew thru nearby & straight-line winds had knocked over
4 phone poles in the area. Naturally that took out my landline too but used the cell to call the power company & report the outage just in case it was recent. Zac said the power went out between 10 & 11 AM so I called my propane company & asked for a refill ASAP since I had no idea how full my tank was & the generator runs on propane. It was after 1AM on Sun. before the power came back on & I got a propane delivery on Tues. so once again "Genny" saved the day - I had heat, football & all the modern conveniences I depend on. This one use made it worth the cost & it's saved the day several times over the years for shorter periods of time.Hope all is well with Max, Marson & Shelly. Everybody enjoy the changing seasons before the change is more severe.
Later.

Gordon I love it. It is like going from Oxcart to Ferrari! I can print anything wirelessly which is great for all the medical stuff I have for Mike. I also have a good scanner so I can start cataloging photos and printing any I want.

Good foggy morning!
My Tuesday started out with an allergy appointment. I give myself shots and see him once a year. He thinks a lot of my issues may be due to all the smoke from the western fires.
Then my "check engine" light came on. I have driven this 2001 Outback for ages with very few issues. So called my mechanic and he said come on over and he will check to see what code is showing. As I pulled in there my left front tire went flat.
As my anxiety level is at "orange" most days anyway I was surprised that I did not fly apart. Made an appointment to get an EGR valve replaced, and we aired up the tire which went flat instantly (broken valve stem). The tire store is right around the corner so he aired it up again, jammed cardboard in to at least hold air temporarily and I zoomed to the tire store (with no appointment). My son was able to pick me up and run me home. I fully expected to have to replace the tire which means two tires at least on AWD.
SO I'm already assuming $500 or more. As well when we popped the hood at the mechanic, the battery looked awful and turns out it is 6 years old and should be replaced. So I asked if they could do that too if needed.
Well!! About an hour and a half later hey called and not only did they fix the tire, the battery was fine. They cleaned it and checked how well it was working and the whole thing cost me $25!
Some little bitta good news there.

Sister had to walk down 33 flights with just the emergency lights, run through that horrible gray cloud and get literally lifted over a railing onto a boat in the Hudson and was let off in Jersey City with her purse and thankfully cell phone. I was talking to her while she was still in the apartment as the buildings began to fall. The cell tower fell too so lost contact. I finally heard from her hours later at a Bonanza Steak House (she is pretty much a vegetarian so we laughed about that). They let everyone wash as best they could, then somehow the whole group walked back across the bridge to Manhattan where she found a place to stay. I called my mother, who was in Connecticut, and someone contacted my other sister in Portugal or France where they were visiting family. A very scary day, and then the reality of what had happened really set in. She couldn't even get into her apartment for weeks. She said she saw some pretty hideous things that day.

Hi Potties! I doubt many folks who were adults at the time who have forgotten where they were & what they were doing on 9/11. I was working for Equifax in the Midtown area of Atlanta when Bear called me & said a plane had hit the World Trade Center. I thought at 1st he meant a little private plane but I was able to pull up CNN.com in time to see them show the plane was a passenger jet. I suspect I'll always remember that sight unless I completely lose my faculties before my time comes. It's an unbelievably vivid memory to be 20 years old.

Clutch the pearls! I got thrown off Facebook for a day because I was angry that not one but two of my friends (unconnected) were hacked/pfished in the same day and "someone" is sending out bogus friend requests.
When I see some of the insane anti-scence stuff on FB AND see people being scammed left and right--and THIS is what I get kicked off for?
Amazing.
Sold most of the posted diecast cars. I will see if I can still post any more on Marketplace while in FB jail.

I am prepared to get a booster. I am saddened by so many who continue to be positively rabid aboit NOT vaccinating and possibly spreading to those who can't, without a care.

Hi Potties! Not much happening here. The outer bands of Fred arrived this afternoon & the weather guessers are telling us to expect rain thru Wed. My favorite channel is saying the Canton area might get as much as 5+ inches of rain by the time it goes away.
When it rains, it pours. I noticed over the weekend that Cyclops, my 1 eyed Siamese, had something going on with his missing eye area. I was at my long-time vet in Woodstock by 7:30 this morning. They gave him a shot of a long lasting antibiotic & were able to squeeze him into a surgical appointment next Tues. AM. The plan is to clean out the eye socket & stitch the lid shut. I thought about doing that years ago when he 1st came to live with me but it wasn't necessary from a health standpoint & is an expensive procedure so I decided against it. It's a different issue now & he's only 7 yrs. old so I want him to have a long, healthy, pain-free life so off we go. I was surprised to learn he now weighs 12 pounds so he's obviously not missing any meals.
I just saw my 1st commercial for the Hyundai Santa Cruz that I'm hoping to trade Kermit for - I just really miss having a truck & it's the closest thing to a Baja that's out there now. Zac's friend was off over the weekend so I'm hoping we can go see him sometime this week. I'm hoping he'll be able to help with whatever's necessary to get Kermit's title switched to me since Bear is no longer competent to sign it over to me. I'm excited to see one "in person".
Everybody take care. Later.

Good morning!
Gave myself my allergy shot and need to stay quiet for about a half hour (just in case I react) and have my (never needed) EPIpen at the ready. I am supposed to "practice" with the practice one.
Susan this part of having critters is always so hard. I know Boss, at nearly 15, will not live forever. We will miss him desperately as we did Maggy (it gets easier as time flows on).
Well, it took three trips but both plastic/aluminum bags, all four bags of cardboard plus two bug flattened boxes, and one big bag of trash is at the curb. Boss loves to help by whizzing by us as close as he can get without hitting us, over and over.

Good afternoon!
Hey, I will line up as soon as boosters are available. Too many who survive the new variant are saying, "I wish I'd gotten the shot."
It would break my heart if any of the people I know who have some objection to the vaccine and want to take a chance (I saw a few unmasked today at the store so I'm going back to curbside) do actually get it and die. It isn't necessary and is preventable!
Baby raccoon was here yesterday and I put his picture on Facebook.

Oh Gordon! DehydratIon can get you quickly (especially as we--um--get older) and brings many to the emergency room. If I don't stay well hydrated I get dizzy and nearly faint. Very scary so I drink many glasses of water per day. That does have its drawbacks, as then I need to find a potty often. Dehydration can come on quickly!
Sigh.
Glad you are in recovery mode.

Hi Potties!
Gordon - I didn't hear that but I've never sold on eBay. It's a bit odd tho, while at the booth this afternoon I was talking with Terry & Kathie, the shop owners/managers, and we were discussing payment methods & I commented I haven't even bought on eBay since they bought Paypal & made it the only payment method that could be advertised. I do shop on Etsy 'cause they accepted my credit card # but the sellers don't have it. I'm not sure I'd trust eBay with any sensitive info.
I start over with PT for the "testy" shoulder on Thurs. I'm not sure either dr. I've asked about it is sure what's wrong with the darn thing. I do know if it's "mild" arthritis, I sure hope it never goes past being mild. I know at 1st I thought it might be an aftereffect of the wreck but that hasn't been suggested as an option. I'm sure it can't be because I'm older than dirt...
It's turned chilly & has been fairly wet the past few days. I don't doubt that come July or August I'll be wishing this weather could/would come back. Just interferes a lot with my yard work.
We're moving forward with getting guardianship of Bear - he's having a stepped up spell of "seeing Pixies", as I put it. If the home doesn't find a physical cause, then it will just be the dementia to blame. The home & the VA-based social worked both seemed to feel it was time to take action to see that he was protected since his capacity apparently diminished recently. Since he has no favorable thoughts about his 2 sons or his 1/2 sister, nor has he for a number of years, we want to be sure they couldn't profit over his situation. As my friend
Shirley said many years ago "getting old ain't for sissies"!Best go feed the land sharks - 'tis past time (so they say). Everybody take care. Later.
