Schools are closed, and wouldn't be surprised if they are tomorrow also. Side roads are ice covered. Supposed to get even worse winter weather Friday. Have to love January in the south, where snow equipment doesn't exist.

Grandkids are loving it though. That icy coating makes for good sledding.

Max: Griffen has shot up past me. He turned 17 last month and he is about 6 inches taller than I am (I am 5 foot 5 inches tall).
Sad part is he is still growing and eating like crazy. Good kid though.

Had a few nice sales over at Bonanza. Sold both of my New Orleans paintings there for a nice profit. Sales are slow, but when it's something I don't have to move quickly, I put it there and wait for the right buyer. Usually if something doesn't sell on ebay, I put it over on Bonanza for awhile so it's online and can be found if someone is browsing over there. Then I can relist it anytime I want on ebay, too. Works for me.

Waiting on tax stuff to get here so I can file. Expecting a nice refund this year, which will probably go to new kitchen appliances. Refrigerator and cookstove need replacing.

Miss going to auctions, but they have been few and far between here, or not worth the time to attend. Sometimes I find a sleeper in the local antique or thrift stores, but I don't get out much lately. Hip is giving me a hard time. Had knee surgery last year, and eventually I will need a hip replacement. I'm putting it off as long as possible.

Getting old sucks.

Had an ice storm go through yesterday, pretty much shut down the entire state. In fact, we were in a state of emergency yesterday and people were told to stay off the roads. The roads are not much better today. Some schools have already called off for the rest of the week. Our county is closed through tomorrow but I expect we will be out the rest of the week also.

A lot of people here have the wrong URL on their profiles. One clue...if the URL has the word "bulk" in it, it's the wrong URL.

The best way to find the correct URL to use is to go to "advanced search", then do a search by seller using your ebay ID, and when that list comes up, highlight the URL, copy it and then come back here and paste it on your profile so other people can see your listings.

Stoneware dishes can be used in the microwave with no problem, but the ceramic ones don't do as well. And yes, don't soak your Pfaltzgraff in water. The unglazed area on the bottom will absorb the water and expand the pottery inside the glaze, and cause the dishes to craze. Once crazed, they will absorb food juices and oils through the glaze cracks and the dishes will stain.

There are at least close to 20 different ones, including the York marks and the ones used when Pfaltzgraff made utility ware. So marks can tell when and where an item was made. Marks did change over the years, sometimes dramatically and sometimes very subtly. Knowing what the changes were , or are, can help date an item or at let me know at least what decade the item was made. There are some items, however, like Gourmet items, that were never marked, or the ink stamps can't be read, or were only marked "USA". That's where knowing the items comes in handy.

Yorktowne had many different variations of their pattern, depending on the item it was on. But one definite way to tell one from the other is that Yorktowne is blue on grey, and Blue Village is blue on shiny white.

As to selling it, some sellers sell by the piece or by small groupings of spoons, forks, etc....I would sell by the entire lot. I think you would do better that way, if it sells. Blue Village is not a big seller, sorry to say. There is some listed on ebay now.
