Beth - thank you !!! I didn't even think to look in the "Out of Stock" area - just saw 9" ! So apparently they made 2 variations of "veggie" servers; 1 a 9 3/4" long and a second that is 9 3/8"(actually 9 3/16") long. The only real difference is the depth. 3" vs. 2"
-
Question: Does anyone have or know of a reference for Franciscan China Rossmore pattern? Replacements Ltd. shows a single Vegetable serving bowl @ 9 3/4" long. I have 2 different sizes of the same style bowl - the 9 3/4" long X 3" deep then a 9 1/4" long X 2 1/8" deep bowl. I cannot find a reference for the smaller serving dish anywhere.
Any help would be appreciated ! -
@jmart8248 Irene - I personally will treat these like my glassware that I ship with double bubble wrap plus extra padding in box. Double box not needed if packed properly. I would estimate shipping in the $5 - $7.50 range from Akron, Ohio to continental U.S.

Need a bit of advise. I picked up these two pieces at auction several weeks ago & wonder if they are worth listing on eBay?

Amber - "outside enterprise" refers to my direct sales outside the web sites. I have several Interior Designers that I "broker" glass sales with. They ask for a specific type of glassware, I find it on the web, once approved by them, I buy & re-sell at a mark up. Makes for a nice side line - not super lucrative but enjoyable searching.

Amber - let's just say my mad money paid for a season's camper space + a used truck cap for my wheels.
My little outside enterprise helps too !!! -

Amber - not doing that well - enough to keep "mad money" in pocket !!!

Evening Potties : eBay amazes me - glass sales down so I put up a ceramic Bozo the Clown nite lite by LeBow of California from the 50's. BH says increase the starting bid so I do so ! Within 15 minutes, I have a bid & still have 6 days 18 hrs to go ! Keeping fingers crossed

Katie @fyrqueen - it must be a DGD thing. My 12 yr old DGD would rather be in the barn with or on the back of her BF. She would much rather muck the horse's stall than clean her own bedroom.
-
Amber - always great to be outside in fresh air. Old Body sure was sore y-day though.
-
Amber - didn't really get to do any camping. Just got the camper & site ready. Turned on refrigerator & tested furnace. Water & sewer not hooked up yet & didn't spend the nite - just drove out, worked, drove back home, drove back out & worked some more. Will wait until steady warmer temp's are in place before I commit to staying out for extended period. Waiting for window repairman to call so that trailer window can get repaired/replaced. Trailer firm that was supposed to replace leaking window has never called about my "new" window (they ordered wrong one last year).
-
Gordon - I apologize, I promised not to political the board. I'm just frosted again by DC !!!!
-
Bob @lookwhatbobfound - No way - they are just resting up so they can take ALL the rest of what we thought we had. Insurance Tax, Uninsured Tax, Illegal Alien Support Fees, etc.
-
Shelly - BTW - 3 1/2 inch "floppies" are NOT old. Look back at the real floppies - the 5 1/4" & the 8". Yes - I said 8" - my first desk top was a Heath-Zenith that took 8" disks - same as the IBM System 34's & 36's (business computers). Sometime will have to tell my story about one of my adult education students & her bout with a 5 1/4" floppy.
-
Shelly,
You should be able to get an external 3 1/2" drive that connects via USB. Do a search on the web for external 3 1/2" drives USB connection. -
Shelly - I think your computer should be able to "read" your camera's floppy disc. Camera should come with software to install on computer for this purpose.
-
Okay Amber - you must have been one of those gals rolling around the local rink in the short poodle skirts & starched crinolines making "eyes" at the guys with the "ducktails & tight chinos". LOL ! Those were the days my friend !!!
-
Never heard of it but am now very cautious since there are new sites popping up daily. Some of the older sites are revamping themselves so am watching them too.
-
@shellyrae37 Shelly - OC here in area has only been opened maybe 3 years but menu is excellent, service is top notch (they don't tolerate poor help - have seen waitresses pulled out of dining room for poor service).
Yes I do have some things listed on eBid - check my profile for link. Only one sale though - lotsa lookie-sees & one or two low-ball offers. No real grasp of how successful they are. -
@whodat111 Susan - O'Charley's is one of the BH & my favorite eateries. Have been enamored by OC since the 90's when I traveled down South to install computer systems for trucking company. Used to feast on their 12 oz & 16 oz Prime Rib. No longer eat red meat regularly so like their sea food menu as well. Now they are here in Ohio & have added "Cedar-planked Salmon & Tilapia" to menu + french fried sweet potatoes - super yummy with horse radish sauce.
-
Char - set up an account with USPS.com & link it to Paypal - that's probably the easiest way.
-
Amber - kits alone sell for $$$ depending on size - start @ $200 for 2 ft up to 10 ft - didn't check price on the big one. Lighting kits are additional - LOL !!! I have a project laid out for me this spring @ campground. Neighbor @ park wants me to build him a deck for his trailer 35 ft X 10 ft with rail & steps. Also has to be capable of being taken apart & transported, if need be. Plans are done - just need to get estimate calculated.
-
Shelly - it is black something ! Can't shine high powered light through it - just assumed it is black glass.
-
Amber - absolutely NOT - made from scratch !!! Except for light on top !
-
Bob @lookwhatbobfound - looks like you live somewhat near to where MIL lives. She lives in Leesburg & several in-laws live in Eustis. Have spent many enjoyable days down there. Almost bought home in Leesburg last Summer but changed mind after seeing park's monthly lot fee. $1K/ mo was a little steep IMHO.
Shelly @shellyrae37 - Hi stranger ! Yes VOTE !!!! That's why I am now a certified Election Official !!
Gordon @gordon - Likewise, I apologize !!! No more political jabs or statements !!!! This Board is too good to jeopardize.
-
Amber - Tax day - April 15th is when our campground opens. Is traditional for the family that owns the park - that way nobody forgets "Opening Day".
-
Nancy - BTW - don't use the "SHUSH" button !!!! We, the Silent & Silver Majority, should no longer be silenced. GET OUT YOUR SOAP BOX & RANT every chance you get. Let other people hear what they don't want to hear !!!! That BIG government is taking the U.S. of A down the road to ruination & the current REGIME is paving the way with goose grease.
I get very riled talking politics so excuse me !!!! -
CHRIS - Fantastic video !!!
-
NANCYG - God bless you Gal. Another voice of sanity heard from. LET's kick the 1%ers out of government & make it a government of the PEOPLE & by the PEOPLE. Term limits all the way up & down !!!! No RETIREMENT Perks after termination except for Social Security.

Gordon & Gayle - YES, big time music fan of early- & mid-60s R&R. Loved S&C but was very much a Beach Boys freak - also The Four Seasons. At one time had very complete collection of signed sealed albums & 45s that I acquired while dating the niece of their road manager. Lost all of collection in fire - thanks to room mate smoking in bed.
Skittles fans - I used to work for the company that produced these candy dispensers. Also made M&M dispensers.
-
Ah yes Gordon - I have followed that couple since they were Caesar & Cleo.
-
Gayle @trezchick - So you like S&C or as they were known in the beginning "Caesar & Cleo". I have Cher's final album playing on puter as I type.
-
nancy - I just got mine ! How are they going to reduce USPS costs by 32% when USPS is raising prices ? Smoke & mirrors to gouge us more - just like the U.S. oil companies.
-
@jhill2d11 - I have no problems with someone like you who takes in the strays & keeps them off the street. The problem here is that people are setting out food & scraps for the strays - this is bringing vermin & wildlife from the valley where the railroad runs. In the last year, I have trapped 3 possums, 2 raccoon, and one very large, very angry woodchuck. Thankfully my neighbor got the skunks - No, he didn't get sprayed. Now the cat count - between Tom & I, we have trapped 60 in the last year. They get taken to the rescue center where they are neutered & put up for adoption. Unfortunately, the center has cut back operations so we may have to take them to Animal Control.
-
@jhill2d11 - I'm sure that those Vets were appreciative. MOST are but there are some that expect EVERYTHING handed to them on silver platters because they are VETS.
Susan - I am an animal lover but frown on anyone who feeds strays. We have a problem in our neighborhood because one neighbor harbored stray cats - Humane Society rescued 40 - 50 from her house when City finally cited her. Now another neighbor has taken it upon herself to feed all God's creatures, as she calls it, before she feeds her husband. As a result, my flower beds smell like litter boxes. I go through a container of Critter-Away just about every month trying to keep them out of my flowers.
-
Bob @lookwhatbobfound - it might be my 'puter but both your "quicktopic" links return a "broken link" error.
-
BTW - Star magnolia now in full bloom - in this heat, will only last until maybe Friday.

@jhill2d11 - Thank you !! One of the most touching scenarios I have ever had in my life was several months ago when I took my BH out to dinner @ O'Charley's - a steak/prime rib & seafood house that is popular in the South - just moving up North now.
We had a very enjoyable dinner & asked for our check. The waiter said that it had been taken care of by a younger couple that were out on the patio near us. I walked over & thanked them profusely (serious - I had tears in my eyes). Apparently, she was the daughter of a third - maybe fourth generation military man (also Air Force) & sister to 3 Air Force officers. She had failed the physical to get into the Air Force so she made it a point to pay for the dinners of any military men & their families dining near her and her husband when they dined out.
So, don't think your kind act goes un-noticed. I had to have BH drive home that night because I was so rattled. I have never had anyone show such kindness to me. -
Nancy -
As a Vet, I would say to those who don't want the attention ( & I understand where they are coming from and respect their feeling), don't advertise the fact that you are a Vet - no hats, shirts, bumper stickers, etc saying such. In conversations, don't mention the fact - acknowledge (if brought up) with as little fanfare as possible. If you know a Vet or current military, IMHO say "Thank you" - their reaction will cue any further acknowledgement. Some VietNam era guys did not want to discuss their service at all because of their feelings for what the war caused here in the U.S. - hatred, animosity, distrust of authority. Many still won't - my BH's cousin is former Marine & he will only talk about Nam with me & one other cousin who served.
I personally wasn't in the jungles and rice paddies (only for a brief encounter) and didn't see the really dirty fighting side of the war. I was, however, on the support side & saw the politics involved & how downright dirty that was. That is a side that will never fully be exposed and there isn't enough time nor bandwidth space for me to go into details. Unfortunately, I get on my soapbox when in one of my moods & will talk for hours about what I saw & heard through my radio in Southeast Asia. -
I proudly wear baseball caps (& I have several) that state U.S. Air Force & Viet Nam Veteran. I am most pleased that more & more people are advancing in the streets & saying "Welcome Home". Two things I personally do, if I meet a Veteran is to thank him for his service & if a Viet Nam Vet, it is "Welcome Home Brother". If I see current military personnel, they get a Veteran's Salute - the open hand across the heart. If you know a Veteran, encourage them to pay tribute to their fellow Veterans. We need to show them our respect - Lord knows we are NOT getting it from our administration.
-
The "Church" in question is the Westboro Baptist Church - they will protest any funeral of any person that did not die of natural causes. They had planned to stage a demonstration @ the funeral of the 1st high school kid that was killed in Chardon. They were "gently" advised not to by Rolling Thunder - a Veteran's Bike group. This church & their ilk are the result of the liberalization & weakening of our laws by groups such as the ACLU.
-
Gayle - not a big fan of flower children from 60's. Respected their feelings about war in Nam but did not appreciate being spat upon by long hair, smelly flower freak @ LAX in '69. Thanks to 2 burly Navy SP's, I was spared assault charges for attempting to re-arrange his dental work (or lack there of).
-
Gayle - have you seen the variety of colors that are now available in the "domesticated" trilliums? I was amazed at the different colors that are available through the garden centers.
-
Gayle - raised on farm that had trillium bed so miss that beautiful bouquet in spring. Also had Jack-in-the-Pulpits intermixed in the bed so was unique. Have you seen the different colors of trillium that are now available through garden centers? Amazing what they are doing with the cultivars.
-
Condolences to Shelly & family. I offer these photo's of Star Magnolia planted in memory of my late FIL as a tribute to your FIL. May their Stars bloom eternally !!!!

Amber - yes in my back yard. I have 2 bleeding heart plants - one the normal red & the other snow white. I also have a 10 ft square of lily-of-the-valley growing as well as 3 rose bushes. Plus 2 lilac bushes. I snuck in a white trillium too - it has been struggling tho.
-
Char @charper99 - the white one is a star magnolia. The pic previous is the star magnolia bush that was only supposed to be 8 ft tall. 9 yrs old - 15 ft & still growing. My FIL's favorite bush - planted in his memory - passed 10 yrs ago next month.
-
-
Shelly - I have to side with BH on this one. My SIL is very antagonistic & bitter. She wouldn't let an open sore heal so the ladies had a verbal set to. My DB & I haven't spoken much since my HA 2 yrs ago either - relates back to issues between wives. So be it !
-
Amber - SIL & BH crossed swords on our honeymoon (we spent HM @ DB & SIL's in Norfolk, VA.) & haven't spoken in 30+ years. Is long story why these two ladies don't get along.
-
Amber - creation of Sake sets, not just the containers is an art form of the highest level. SIL is Korean & she showed me the history of Korean sets & the ceremonies that go with their creation. BH & I have a matching tea & sake set (absolutely gorgeous Cobalt enameled pottery - supposedly over 100 years old) that she & DB gave us for wedding present. It is stored away in spare room because BH detests anything Oriental (except Chinese/Japanese take-out food).
-
Irene -
Poor Dayton, it has all the luck !!! Did you see where he added 2 more Air Squadrons to the US Air Force just to support his campaign trips between now and November. At the same time they are cutting benefits for our veterans. Something doesn't smell right !!! -
Shelly - knee replacement surgery isn't the nerve wracking problem that it used to be - my DM had both knees replaced when she was in her early 80's. She was in rehab for for 3 days & went home without any further assistance. I was told that I would need my left knee replaced 40 yrs ago but that meant 18 months of rehab back then. Still have same old bad knee with multiple problems affecting it.
Taxes - done in late Jan., e-filed & refund deposited directly into checking (both State & Federal). Amazing, this year only took 8 days from filing to refund in account. -
Gordon - I don't know china very well but $12.50 for 78 pieces was "stealing made legal" (IMHO - I wouldn't have let it go for less than $2/piece).
-
Char - I saw dinner plates, salad plates, bread & butter plates, cups & saucers, dessert bowls, gravy boats, large serving platters. It took them over 30 minutes to box em up.
-
Char - I guess so !!! Break out the smoke signals !!!
Is anyone familiar with Limoges China? I just saw 78 pieces go for $12.50 @ an estate sale. I think someone got a steal. It was for 12 place settings, 6 pieces per setting plus 6 serving pieces. Husband & wife walked out chuckling to themselves. -
Shelly @shellyrae37 - RE: PO transactions. I was told that as of mid-January, counter personnel are NOT required to weigh or give receipts for packages that have pre-paid labels on them. They are to be scanned and weighed at the end of the business day prior to shipment. I always ask them to verify my package weight so most of my local counter people scan the shipment in, weigh it & give me a receipt anyway.
-
Amber - haven't seen that one !! But BH is running out of room in her kitchen library because of "LO-FAT, NO FAT, SUGAR FREE, HEART HEALTHY" cookbooks.
-
Amber - 1/2 bag M&M's - YUMMMY - wanna share??? NAW - can't do that ! I used to buy 56 oz bag of Peanut M&Ms just for me & wipe them out in a week. BUT that was BHA (before heart attack). I got hooked on M&Ms when I worked for toy company that made M&M mechanical candy dispensers. I still have some PEZ mechanical dispensers that haven't seen a store shelf.
-
Char - "way back when" my Mom used to make wedding cakes ! She probably could have gone into business if she the capital backing her. She was a prime supplier to caterers who did wedding receptions. The epitome was when she was asked to make the cake for a wedding of a girl who had just broken off her engagement to me about seven months before. Guess Mom had nice words to say to her - I was in the Air Force & in the Philippines.
-
Char - I'm waiting a week to 10 days - if no tumbler then it gets posted as a carafe only ! Paid $2 so won't be out a lot !!!
-
Shelly - yep, very heavy - almost 2 lbs per set. I'm literally giving them away - LOL - NOT !
Nancy - I'm seeing activity in eBay history on them - we'll see !
-
amber - going back to another ES this AM that does have some nice Candlewick that if it is still there may be worth buying !!
TTFN !
-
Susan @whodat111 - dietary indiscretion: Try telling that to pot-bellied pig who thought he was a lap-dog. Serious - Beau would jump up on couch & sit on your lap, especially if you were watching TV. Loved to watch music shows. Had to put padlock on fridge though after he learned how to open the refrigerator door. (Wiped out a week's worth of veggies). VERY SMART animal though - hated to get rid of him. Daughter gave him to farm that gave inner-city kids "view" of farm life as part of a re-hab program.
-
Amber @amber1986 - saw several listings that called the trays "beads & ribs" because there are ribs running across the bottom of the trays + the beads are for the handles.
Here is a set:
http://i40.tinypic.com/k9gu2o.jpg
Tray alone:
http://i41.tinypic.com/29urhnk.jpg
Cup alone:
http://i40.tinypic.com/5ph83c.jpg
Like a newbie, I got flum-oxed into thinking they were Candlewick !
The trays actually have indents for holding a cigarette (or maybe a snack utensil). -
Amber - I lost my work bench plus under the basement stairs plus the BH's laundry table with all the overflow glass from our storage unit purchase. 30 plus boxes of glass take up a lot of space.
-
Gotta tell an ES story - went back to one this afternoon to purchase 16 snack sets (HA beads & ribs or "Snack, sip & smoke" named cuz the plate has a built-in ashtray) that I had seen earlier. Got back, started to pay & then did a recount. Only 12 cups - 16 trays = Hmm, there were 16 cups this morning. It seems someone pocketed 4 cups (they look similar to Candlewick with the beaded handles) between 10:30 AM & 3:00 PM. ES mgr said that he would give me the 4 orphan plates since his staff blew it monitoring the inventory on display.
-
Ooops - that should be "import" ! Where is spell-checker when you need it ?
-
I tried but they would imort auctions - only fixed price listings (if I read the error message right). The text messages for "about us", "FAQ", "Policies", etc. Just haven't taken time to write up those details.
-
@lookwhatbobfound - Bob - I'm trying to start on eCrater but haven't had the time to set up all the text messages, etc.
-
Liz - go to http://www.auctionzip.com. Any kind of auction that you could imagine & you look mat only auctions within a certain distance from your zip.
-
Marson - when I was young (in high school), they had a sale every Saturday in my home town & the bread companies would bring their unsold breads, sweets, etc. in by the box load. I can remember Mom & Dad buying Hostess cupcakes & Banana flips for a penny each in a box lot, bring them home & put them in a BIG upright freezer that we had. Do you know how hard it is to eat a frozen cupcake or banana flip? Mom couldn't understand where they kept disappearing to. Dad & I packed our own lunches - me for school, him for work & we each had to have at least one cake & one flip in each lunch. LOL
-
Liz - gotta go to the Bloomfield Auction - best place ever !!!
Amber - I list on both eBid & Bonanza. eBid is nice cuz you can set up multiple stores. I have 3 stores set up right now - Yard sale, General store & Top shelf. Lotsa look-sees - only 1 sale so far. Same with Bonanza - 1 sale -
Bob @lookwhatbobfound - don't mess around with moles. Get a biopsy if they look suspicious. I wound up getting a chunk taken out my arm. They took a small slice of a mole & it turned out cancerous. They then took out the mole - inside of elbow.
-
Pie birds - talk to OLD time bakers. They were ceramic items placed in a pie to keep pies from boiling over in the oven. Most were in the shape of birds hence the name pie bird but they came in other shapes. With the advent of tighter temperature controls on gas & electric ovens, they were not needed so either got thrown out or used as decorations in kitchens.
-
Initial reports were 2 shooters - confirmed only 1. Upset that he was sold "fake" drugs.
-
Yes - apparently a second has perished.
-
Irene - Single shooter - 1 dead 4 wounded - all because he was mad about getting sold "fake" drugs.
-
@jhill2d11- One of my cousins took Polaroids of my Grampa in his casket & then tried to sell them to all the relatives. My brother, 2 other cousins & I took him outside & introduced him to the woodshed (actually the garage @ the funeral home). He put away his camera but he has since tried the same stunt at other family funerals. Some people are just morbid.
-
Susan - WOW : that ES looks like a treasure hunter's paradise. Lotsa pottery & ceramics. I loved all the Vaseline glass. Wish I were there !!!
-
WTG Bob : My wife says I'm not retired - I am working very hard at being a P.I.T.A. !!!!! JMHO - I'm doing a good job too.

Shelly - my "Ivory and Gold Animal Trio" has your elephant + a dolphin + a swan. Offered only to those who purchase Lenox Classic Disney Collections in the late 90's, early 2000's.
-
Amber - Lenox as in China or porcelain. I have a set of 3 limited release animal mini figurines for sale on the Bay. (if you are interested)
-
@jhill2d11 - my best "Bud", originally from California, now lives in Maryland - we plan on getting together sometime this coming Summer when he travels thru to visit out West. He just retired from a Gov't job after 35 years.
-
Bob - you are lucky - our local VA clinic took 10 vials when I went in for Agent Orange processing to start my claim.
-
@jhill2d11 - Coincidence is my first sale from storage unit over a year ago to Buyer in the Dakotas. After I shipped the glass dish, I got an email from the Buyer's Dad asking me if I had served in VietNam in the Air Force. Turned out the Buyer's Dad was one of my co-workers in the radio site in Saigon in late '69. I have found 4 of my good friends from the P.I. & Nam thru the Web.
-
@jhill2d11 - they may have been my aunt's in-laws. I believe her husband was from N.Y. state.
-
Hi Potties -
Does anyone have any info on LeBow of California ? I have a small ceramic bust of Bozo the Clown that I am trying to run down info on. I need to find someone who has info on or who I could contact about their product line. -
MY Aunt, Uncle & cousins lived in Linesville - Dygerts
-
Shelly - cheaper to fly into my backyard & drive. Akron-Canton Airport is very inexpensive to fly into & out of.
BTW - are you close to Pymatuning ? Or Linesville ? -
Another one taken by drugs & alcohol - Pity - what a voice she used to have !
