Hello all...just a quick post to let you all know that our friend Liz (OhLiz) passed away last night. Her daughter Erin posted the news on Liz's FB page.
I thought some of you might want to know.

Hello all....had a bit of winter weather last night and this morning. Schools are closed, and wouldn't be surprised if they are tomorrow also. Side roads are ice covered. Supposed to get even worse winter weather Friday. Have to love January in the south, where snow equipment doesn't exist.
Grandkids are loving it though. That icy coating makes for good sledding.
Max: Griffen has shot up past me. He turned 17 last month and he is about 6 inches taller than I am (I am 5 foot 5 inches tall).
Sad part is he is still growing and eating like crazy. Good kid though.Had a few nice sales over at Bonanza. Sold both of my New Orleans paintings there for a nice profit. Sales are slow, but when it's something I don't have to move quickly, I put it there and wait for the right buyer. Usually if something doesn't sell on ebay, I put it over on Bonanza for awhile so it's online and can be found if someone is browsing over there. Then I can relist it anytime I want on ebay, too. Works for me.
Waiting on tax stuff to get here so I can file. Expecting a nice refund this year, which will probably go to new kitchen appliances. Refrigerator and cookstove need replacing.
Miss going to auctions, but they have been few and far between here, or not worth the time to attend. Sometimes I find a sleeper in the local antique or thrift stores, but I don't get out much lately. Hip is giving me a hard time. Had knee surgery last year, and eventually I will need a hip replacement. I'm putting it off as long as possible.
Getting old sucks.

Max: That Winterwood Bird bath Candy/Votive dish came out around winter of 2000. I like Winterwood but prefer the canvas version (tan with green accents).
Winterwood is a companion pattern to Naturewood.

Hello Potties: Just wanted to say that although I don't post much here any more I do check in and read the board now and then. I'm always glad to help with Pfaltzgraff information. You can always message me here on the board, or just post your question and I will answer as soon as I can.
Hope everyone is well! Got our taxes done and refund already received. I like to get that done as soon as possible.
Had an ice storm go through yesterday, pretty much shut down the entire state. In fact, we were in a state of emergency yesterday and people were told to stay off the roads. The roads are not much better today. Some schools have already called off for the rest of the week. Our county is closed through tomorrow but I expect we will be out the rest of the week also.

Shelly: Your jard is pictured in a 1946 flyer picture of Monmouth Art Pottery by Western Stoneware. Mold number is 271.
GS is doing fine, and yes, he is still with us. He is now 5 ft 9 1/2 inches tall, so he towers over me. He will be 16 in December.

Reen: Cathy's green pot is Brush McCoy...I found it in Sanford's book in page 121.
Wedges on the bottom doesn't always mean American Bisque. Brush McCoy did it also. The glaze was a good clue, it wasn't an American Bisque style glaze.

I'm so sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but thought the Pottery Board would like to know...
Nancy, who posts on this board as NancyG, was killed in a car accident early this morning.
Here is the link to the news bulletin:
She was such a nice lady, she will be missed.
Janice
-
Shelly: That Roseville listing is by Carl, from the old pottery board.
-
Chris: Take the word "boards" out of the link and it should work.
Janice
-
Katie: Your Basket Girl planter is by Hull Pottery.
Janice
-
Just popped in to say "Merry Christmas" to all the Potties.
Janice
-
Bob: Confirmation on your elephant planter, there is one shown on page 116 of "Hull Pottery, Decades of Design" by Jeffrey Snyder.
Janice
-
Bill...the good news is that your shakers ARE Blue Ridge. The bad news is that I can't pin down a specific pattern name. Sorry.

Helen: Homer Laughlin made lots of dinnerware for use in restaurants. Hence the name "restaurantware". The design could be for a seafood restaurant chain or an independant restaurant. Unless someone recognizes the design and can connect it to a particular restauant or chain, you may never be able to ID who they were for. Sorry.

Helen in Indy: Yes, your bowls are Yorktowne. The mark looks as if the castle didn't impress properly, but it should be a 3 tiered castle. Mark is from the 80's.
Janice

Marty: Your RC "small bowl with perched bird" (what the RC book I have calls it) has a BV of $5 and from checking completeds, looks like about what they bring.

Let me know and I will message you.

Helen in Indy: Post a pic of the bowls and one of the mark. Then I can give you the info you need.

@charper99 :Regarding adding insurance to a sale....you do know you not supposed to charge your buyers for insurance? Ebay rules...you either add it to the opening bid price of your item or you can add it as a handling charge.

Nancy: Throw those relists up...ya never know! Might sell this time!!
Janice
-
Nancy: Whatever you list today will not affect the 50 free listings you get per month.
From the Announcements page: If you already qualify for 50 free monthly Auction-style listings and do not have an eBay Stores subscription, you can take advantage of this offer and still get your 50 free to use for the remainder of the month.
Janice

Bob: The link you had did take you to your "my ebay" page, but when I clicked on it to see your auctions, it took me to MY "my ebay" page...
A lot of people here have the wrong URL on their profiles. One clue...if the URL has the word "bulk" in it, it's the wrong URL.
The best way to find the correct URL to use is to go to "advanced search", then do a search by seller using your ebay ID, and when that list comes up, highlight the URL, copy it and then come back here and paste it on your profile so other people can see your listings.

@lookwhatbobfound : Bob, check your messages, please.

Shelly: If you do a completed search for "eva zeisel fantasy", you will see 3 listings for egg cups. These were for one egg cup in each listing.
Good luck with them!

Newer patterns of Pfaltzgraff dishes are not made of stoneware, but are made of ceramic. Stoneware dishes can be used in the microwave with no problem, but the ceramic ones don't do as well. And yes, don't soak your Pfaltzgraff in water. The unglazed area on the bottom will absorb the water and expand the pottery inside the glaze, and cause the dishes to craze. Once crazed, they will absorb food juices and oils through the glaze cracks and the dishes will stain.
Janice
-
Susan &Helen: using Replacements for Pfaltzgraff pattern ID's is ok, just don't rely on any of the information they give about the patterns besides pattern names. I have found a lot of mistakes on Replacements as to what certain items are called, dates patterns were discontinued, etc.
Janice
-
Helen: Pfaltzgraff Folk Art basket style serving bowl, 1 qt size, 7 1/4 inches in diameter. Shown in a 1995 Pfaltzgraff newsletter. Also came in a smaller, 12 ounce size.
Janice
-
Amber: I have copies of all the marks that Pfaltzgraff used over the years. There are at least close to 20 different ones, including the York marks and the ones used when Pfaltzgraff made utility ware. So marks can tell when and where an item was made. Marks did change over the years, sometimes dramatically and sometimes very subtly. Knowing what the changes were , or are, can help date an item or at let me know at least what decade the item was made. There are some items, however, like Gourmet items, that were never marked, or the ink stamps can't be read, or were only marked "USA". That's where knowing the items comes in handy.
Janice
-
Helen: I do not know what you mean by "special castle mark". There are different marks depending on when and where the items are made, but I don't understand what you mean by "special castle mark".
Janice
-
Shelly: I'm not here enough to do something like that. I only do a quick scroll to see what is happening and if I can help with anything. And, I don't scroll every day. Ebay is way down on my list these days.
Janice
-
I should clarify: The older, plastic handled Pfaltzgraff hostess sets came with 6 pieces.
Janice who should slow down and proofread before posting.
-
@10bbg10 : Helen, actually the Hostess Sets came with 6 pieces: sugar spoon, serving fork, pierced tablespoon, ladle, butter knife, and serving spoon.
Janice
-
Helen: A lot of people confuse the 2 patterns, especially older pieces of Yorktowne because some of the item have a pattern that was similar to the Village pattern, like the little flower pots. Yorktowne had many different variations of their pattern, depending on the item it was on. But one definite way to tell one from the other is that Yorktowne is blue on grey, and Blue Village is blue on shiny white.
Or, you can ask me. 🙂
Janice
-
Helen: I found the silverware ads in some of my old Pf newsletters, although Blue Village is not listed. The silverware began being offered in the newsletters around 1989, however, the Blue Village dinnerware pattern was available only from 1992-1993. Since I don't have catalogs for several of the early 90's years, I can't tell you if the Blue Village pattern silverware was offered through the catalogs or not.
Janice
-
@10bbg10 : Your silverware is in the "Blue Village" pattern, made to go with the Blue Village pattern by Pfaltzgraff ( discontinued). Pfaltzgraff had this silverware made to go with several different patterns, some sell well and some don't, because some of it doesn't really match the dishes. As to selling it, some sellers sell by the piece or by small groupings of spoons, forks, etc....I would sell by the entire lot. I think you would do better that way, if it sells. Blue Village is not a big seller, sorry to say. There is some listed on ebay now.
Janice
-
Amber: I peek in now and then...but I usually don't have much to contribute these days....too busy during the day.
-
Amber: Check your messages, please.
-
@amber: Snopes says that story is false.
-
@sellingthings :Marty, I don't know who made your little dishes, but that is NOT a Homco Mark. Homco mark arrows have a circle connecting them in the middle.

Gordon: I'll pass the "g'day" on to him. He has moved on to other interests, though.
Janice
-
Gordon: Yes, you did. He was around the age of 4 when you met him, he turns 13 next month.
Janice
Janice
-
Gordon: He is already showing some signs that, even if he never outgrows it, he can modify his diet to include a few of the trigger foods now and then, even if only in small amounts.
Some foods are stronger triggers than others. The most difficult food we have had to restrict him on is pizza. Almost all kids love pizza and he is no different, but the meats and cheeses are massive triggers. I have found a pizza that he can have, in small amounts, and that has been a blessing. It tastes good too, so that is the pizza we get now.
But pickles are still on the avoidance list. If he eats any, it's like someone took a hammer to his head. He may never be able to have pickles in his diet again. Time will tell.
Janice
-
Gordon: He started getting migraines at the age of 2 and we never could figure out what was causing them. We did know that nitrates in foods like bacon and luncheon meats were triggers but it took me several months before making the connection about all preserved foods being triggers. Now that we know what to avoid, or strictly limit, it's gotten easier. Unfortunately my grandson loves to eat all the things he has to try and avoid. But as he gets older, he is understanding it better.
-
Peeking in:
Gordon: If you are sensitive to preservatives, then MSG is something to avoid. My grandson gets migraine headaches from aged or preserved foods, either naturally preserved or otherwise. I have to really check the ingredients of everything he eats, and try to avoid things like aged cheeses, pickles, etc, and ANYTHING with MSG. Otherwise he is in agonizing pain.

Good afternoon...see some people are trying to find out how to see each other's ebay listings....each of us have to add the "URL" to our listings on our profile. The easiest way would be to go to ebay's "Search", and search by seller name for your listings. Then copy the "URL" for your listings, and then come back here to edit your profile. Insert the "URL" in the box for ebay auctions URL, and save the changes. That puts the link to your auctions on your profile.

@collectibles4utwo: Yes, and I prefer being there to ebay. Sales are slower but I get what I want for the item. I am slowly learning about the networking and it seems to be getting more people to see my booth.
-
@collectibles4utwo: I have been lurking since this board started and so far I like what I see. I am pretty busy and might not post much, but some of you I consider friends and I don't want to lose you once the other boards go away, and I also hope that the people I don't know yet will become new friends.

OK, I finally got registered over here. I think once I learn my way around I'll like it here,
